Blade Runner: A Cult Classic from 1982

Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott, is a dystopian film set in Los Angeles in the year 2019. Genetically engineered beings called ‘replicants’ have been created to look and act like human adults. They are kept separate from humans and kept hidden on off-world colonies. If any of them make their way back to Earth, a special police force known as Blade Runners would eliminate them. A retired Blade Runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), meets Rachel, played by Sean Young, who changes his perspective on the humanity of the replicants.

In 1983, the film received the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, an award given to pieces of science fiction or fantasy, and has remained a classic in the science fiction genre since.
