Danganronpa, the video game franchise from Spike Chunsoft, is getting another TV anime series: Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak Academy. Unlike the first season, this series won’t be an adaptation from any of the two games. It will be a completely original story with the characters from both games in a two-sided show!

The anime is supposed to be the conclusion of Hope’s Peak Academy since the upcoming game (Danganronpa V3: Everyone’s new Semester of Killing) will be focusing on new characters and environments. The teaser for the first episodes will be shown during a special event in Japan on July 3!

This anime will be split into two Arcs: Future and Despair. Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak Academy – Side: Future will be a sequel to Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. In this arc, we will meet with the characters from the second game again as well as new Future Foundation members. Future will be starting on July 11.Danganronpa 3: Future poster

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak Academy – Side: Despair will feature the Remnants of Despair. This one will be a prequel to Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Despair will be starting on July 14. Both sides will be aired at the same pace, one being on Mondays and the second one every Thursday.Danganronpa 3: Despair poster

Danganronpa V3 : Everyone’s New Semester of Killing

Danganronpa V3 is the third Visual Novel game of the franchise that will come out in Japan in late 2016. It will feature a completely new storyline, new characters , and environment. Only Monokuma will be returning in the sequel. The team’s choice of calling this game V3 wasn’t only to mean Version 3. The V also symbolizes other meanings such as Victory or Violence.Danganronpa V3 Teaser

Are you ready for Despair?

While we are very excited for this new series, Danganronpa 3 will probably have some spoilers from previous games and it might be important to catch up on the story beforehand. If some of the groups mentioned in this article were unknown to you, playing or watching a gameplay of the previous games will be good preparation! The games are also already available on Steam. This anime will be a horror, Mystery, and psychological series. Unfortunately, anyone who doesn’t speak Japanese will have to wait for a subbed version. Let’s hope it will come soon since this anime does look promising!

Since this is meant as a Spoiler Free article, the trailer for the anime isn’t shown directly as it contains spoilers of the two games. However, you can watch it here if you already played it or are not bothered by it!
