Marvel released the first installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008. Ten years later, it all comes together. Marvel has released the new trailer for “Avengers: Infinity War.”
During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel revealed to the audience in attendance of Hall H the first look of Avengers: Infinity War.
The footage shown in Hall H has made its way online but never shown officially by Marvel Studios. Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo have long teased the release of the trailer until this past weekend when they took to social media, starting a countdown of three days.
Time has run out! Check out the first trailer in all of its glory!
The Next Adventure
The trailer opens with a voiceover of various familiar voices from Nick Fury, Tony Stark, Vision, Thor and Black Widow as they speak of the Avengers Initiative. We see a shot of an emotional Tony Stark. We then see a dazed, confused and shirtless Bruce Banner lying in a hole in the floor.
Doctor Strange and Wong stand over the hole looking down at him. There, a Hulk-sized hole is in the ceiling above them. We then see a brief sequence with Scarlet Witch and Vision as they are closer than ever before. Vision doesn’t appear to be his android self as he looks human, though the Mind Stone shines through his forehead.
Next, we see Bruce Banner and Black Widow in Wakanda. Banner seems to be repairing an arm from Tony Stark’s Hulkbuster suit. Cut to New York.
We get a shot of the Queensboro Bridge just before we see a shot of Doctor Strange, Wong, Bruce Banner and Tony Stark in the Sanctum Sanctorum. One of the aforementioned Hulk-sized holes is in the middle of the staircase just behind them.
“In time, you will know what it’s like to lose,” Thanos says as we see Peter Parker on a school bus. His spider senses start to tingle as the hair on his arm begin to rise. Peter, along with the rest of the students on the bus, begins to look out of the window as he notices a giant circular machine as it floats over New York.
The Next Showdown
We get a quick glimpse of Loki holding the Tesseract just before we see a black portal open up. Enter Thanos.
We then see a series of shots of our heroes in action. Spider-Man dons his brand-new suit (teased at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming), the return of Captain America, Black Panther and Iron Man’s Hulkbuster suit as they battle an army of aliens.
We also see the Mind Stone ripped from Vision’s head, as Thanos adds infinity stones to the Infinity Gauntlet one-by-one.
As the trailer comes to a close, the many members of the Avengers assemble alongside a Wakandan army as they go to war against a swarm of aliens. Just before the trailer cuts to black, we see Thor as he meets the Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time.
Avengers: Infinity War comes out May 4, 2018.
