In December, Wesley Edens (Co-Owner, Milwaukee Bucks) and Fortress Investment Group acquired Cloud9 Challenger, which included the contracts for four Cloud9 Challenger players and Cloud9’s North American League Championship Series (NA LCS) spot for a total of $2.5 million. As reported by ESPN, Cloud9 Challenger has now been re-branded as FlyQuest.
FlyQuest will be making their debut January 20th in the North American League Championship Series. Former Cloud9 Challenger members An “Balls” Le, Hai “Hai” Lam, Johnny “Altec” Ru and Daerek “LemonNation” Hart will now be FlyQuest’s League of Legends lineup. At launch, FlyQuest will only have one esports team. Before NA LCS begins, FlyQuest will have to adhere to Riot Games’ recently updated business structure.
The North American League Championship Series 2017 begins Friday, January 20th.
