With Halloween around the corner, October is the perfect time of the year to play horror games.

Even those who are not fans of the genre can find a game themed for the season that they will enjoy. So here is a small selection of the different awaited games from October 2016 that players can enjoy on Halloween!

Starting with one of Steam’s new games this month is Disturbed. This game is available for free to any who is interested to play. In this game, the player gets to be a farmer who is failing at his job. Until he finally reaches a point where he lost all hope and needs to do something about it. This indie game is an interactive story with a very unique art style. Play through various puzzles to progress in this story, inspired by experiences of depression and addiction. It is an experience for those who are not fond of playing horror games filled with jump scares, but want to enjoy a little dark story.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location is the fifth game of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series. This one however has it’s very own unique twist. It takes the player to Circus Baby’s Pizza World where they play as a late night technician. The game designed by Scott Cowthon develops a more deep and dark story than the previous ones. Featuring Circus Baby, Ballora, Funtime Freddy, Funtime Foxy and more! It has been enjoyed by many already and is now one of Steam’s top sellers. Perfect for Halloween with it’s fill of jumpscares and creepy “animatronics”.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

From the team behind Until Dawn, comes Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. This VR experience teleports the players in a twisted universe where they will get on a terrifying roller coaster ride. The objective of the game is to survive through the different levels of the ride by shooting at enemies. While this doesn’t sound as scary as it looks, this game is certain to scare any of those who fear clowns. With it’s carnival themed ambiance, it is a game to enjoy for a horror themed night!

Stay Close

Stay Close is a horror game arriving to Steam this month, but it was first in ‘Greenlight’ this time last year. This game is developed by Blind Bird and already has the attention of many players. Unfortunately, it was delayed a little while ago, but its current release date is now October 14th. This game will be an open-world horror game with the options of a single player mode and a co-op mode. The players are brought into the story of a couple who stumbles into an odd town and are struggling to find a way out. Stay Close already looks promising!

Yomawari: Night Alone

Yomawari  is an interesting horror game and is making waves. With it’s unique and cute style, this is the story of a young girl who was walking her dog, an incident happens to her pet. When she gets home, her sister decides to run off to find the animal. Since it is getting dark and her sister still has not come back, the little girl decides to go after her. However, at night, things look different, this is not the city that she remembers. Already available for pre-order, this game will be coming out on Steam and PS Vita right in time for Halloween!

Corpse Party

Finishing with a classic, getting it’s remake version on 3DS, Corpse Party is coming out in the Nintendo e-shop this October. A physical version is also already available to pre-order. Corpse Party is the tale of a group of students who end up being trapped in an alternate reality of Heavenly Host Elementary School. There, they encounter vengeful spirits who are threatening their lives and the only way to get out is to uncover the mysteries of those murdered before them. This remake of Corpse Party will include four new extra chapters, redrawn high resolution character sprites, 3D art stills and much more!
