Antihero is a game where your goal is to be the best at being bad. Take control of the thieves’ guild in an underground Victorian London to show that you’re top dog. After stealing, murdering, and bribing your way through the campaign mode, challenge your friends to an asynchronous multiplayer match to further establish your dominance. Antihero is a game that I can’t wait to get on my phone once it’s released!
The campaign does a fantastic job of leading you through level after level, delivering new mechanics and tactics along the way. As you unlock new units, you also unlock upgrades for them. By the end, it feels like your shabby guild has grown into a full-blown syndicate. Add health to your thugs for further protection, or focus on your street urchins to gain a financial edge. How you play is up to you, but do what you need to make sure of is you come out on top!
How it plays out
At the start of each round, you have only limited visibility of the city. As you move around and expand your vision, there are telltale signs of where the opposing thief might have also been. With the clues you find, you then determine which buildings you want to burgle or who to assassinate. From there it’s all about outsmarting your opponent by thwarting their moves before they can make them while keeping them from doing the same. Once a certain number of objectives are completed, victory is claimed.
By using asynchronous multiplayer, picking up a game with friends is easy as ever. For those unfamiliar with the term, asynchronous multiplayer is where players will take their turn and then pass it to their opponent to take their turn whenever they get a chance. Games that have utilized this method in the past have been extremely successful in keeping people playing and finishing their games. Finding time to sit down and play isn’t always the easiest, but being able to take your turn whenever you do have a chance means that scheduling doesn’t get in the way.
We should be seeing the release of Antihero very soon. Antihero will be released on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android so make sure to keep an eye out!
