Auralux: Constellations is a pure strategy game that is deceptively simple, stripping away cumbersome tech trees and specialized units. Victory entails conquering constellation after constellation in an interstellar war spanning the galaxy. The game features a slow, graceful feel, easy-to-learn mechanics and minimalistic graphics, all pushing to the rhythm of the ambient music. In 2017, this stellar game is coming to consoles.

The Game

The premise of the game is incredibly simplistic. You control planets, which spawn units at a set time on their own. You then fight for control of other planets. Once your opponents are all gone, the game is over and you win. Levels have different environmental interactions such as black holes and supernovas to keep things interesting. No building, no upgrading, just playing. It is that simple.

If you’ve taken a look at the original Auralux, this plays out in a very similar way, but with more mechanics, more vibrant colors and pleasant background music. Units still destroy one other on a 1:1 scale. Enemy bases are taken over by having units move in to occupy it. The game comes down to managing your resources so that you can defend your base while attacking the enemy.

The Perfect Game for Houseguests

I can’t think of a better title to have running in the background, at a house party, than Auralux: Constellations. From the music and sounds to the general pace of the game, the ambiance is relaxing. With so few rules, it’s easy for anyone to sit down on the couch, grab a controller and start to play. The beautiful colors and delightful sound effects are sure to catch any houseguest’s eye.
