Along with their quarterly report this morning, Disney announced that they would be closing Avalanche Software and cancelling their action-adventure sandbox game, Disney Infinity. Disney’s shutdown of Avalanche was immediate, and resulted in the loss of over three hundred jobs, though some of those on the project were lucky enough to be relocated. Along with that news, the corporate giant stated that they would no longer be developing video games through in-house means, and would instead be licensing those properties to other developers.

The game’s dying breath will be heralded by a pair of final releases including three new characters from Alice Through The Looking Glass later this month, and a play set from Finding Dory slated for release in June – after that point, however, audiences will just have to be prepared for Disney Infinity to become Disney Fin.
