When a game is announced and has an initial release date it is common for the title to be delayed from what was expected. Last year at E3, during Sony Interactive’s keynote, Guerrilla Games announced their Playstation exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn. The title was expected to have a 2016 release but it comes as no surprise that it has been formally delayed until 2017.
The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.
Herman Hulst, Managing Director of Guerrilla Games, took to a Playstation Blog to break the silence about Horizon Zero Dawn to explain the delay and deliver a brand new trailer. The delay is attributed to the studio trying to make sure the title’s gameplay and visuals live up to Guerrilla Games’ standards. While many people may be displeased by this delay, it is understandable considering many studios deliver underdeveloped games that require day one patches.
In their newest trailer we learn more about Aloy, the protagonist, and a glimpse of the story and we get to see the world that these characters inhabit. The trailer also reveals the new release date: Horizon Zero Dawn will be available exclusively on Playstation 4 February 28, 2017.
