TwitchCon’s History

In 2015, Twitch announced its first ever convention meant for streamers to network and learn about streaming on their platform. Launching their first convention in San Francisco, California, Twitch aimed to assist streamers with their businesses. However, while hosting in the city of its headquarters was convenient, it proved to be pricey. In 2016, TwitchCon moved to San Diego aiming for more accessibility to attendees.

According to the official Twitch Blog site, the 2016 convention hosted over 41,000 attendees, 2.2 million online viewers, and generated more than 160,000 tweets. Plus, features like Twitch Prime, custom chat badges, and Twitch clips were released. Between the useful panel information regarding streaming, and the exciting location changes, the convention was worthwhile.
