Psyonix released information that Rocket League will now have new Transparent goal posts. This will be released in the fall but there is no official date thus far.
The Fall ‘Rocket League’ Update
Releasing such an update is great for players since most use zoomed out settings in order to see more of the field. It presents interesting issues when players can’t see past the goal post to save the ball. While most players don’t sit directly in the net during the game, this feature will help players. And depending on the view that a player uses, not only will the goal posts be transparent, but so will parts of the arena.
As quoted from the official Rocket League website:
When defending in-goal, for example, the posts and walls around you will become transparent for better vision. The same goes for players who hug Arena walls on offense or defense, because the quarterpipe will be see-through as well!
Players further out on the field will see goal posts as normal, so this will not affect any gameplay strategies. Regardless, Psyonix had three goals in mind when altering the graphics for the game:
- To have consistent visibility around the whole goal net
- They wanted the effects to look good – and to fit the aesthetic of the game
- Adding this new feature as optional for players. It can be toggled in the menus
Among other things, the developers also included this gem at the final part of their article:
As a compliment to this new feature, we will also be doing another performance pass in those same Arenas so that you can make the most of your new-found visual freedom.
