“Sign up to get access to Paragon’s beta!”

You’ve probably seen that ad on your favorite social media outlet for quite some time. We certainly have, and just like many of you, we’ve been wondering “Well…when do we actually get access to beta?!” Well it looks like Epic Games has finally heard us and has released new information regarding the Founder Packs and early access to their game.

The TL;DR Version

Players will be able to purchase the Founder Pack on March 14th, which will unlock early access to Paragon on March 18th. For those of you who have signed up for beta, even if you didn’t buy a Founder’s pack, you will still be able to play during the Beta Weekends of Early Access Season. Whether that is every weekend though, or specifically chosen ones, only time will tell.

The Finer Details

According to the Creative Director of Paragon, Steve Superville,

“…we really want gamers to be able to opt-in and be here with us from the start, to give feedback and help shape the game. As a way of saying thanks, we’re trying to make Founder’s Packs an insanely good value…buying a Founder’s Pack will get you in-game content at a huge discount from normal prices. During the Early Access Season, we’ll release new (Free!) Heroes every three weeks, hold community events, and offer daily and weekly rewards. “

The basic version of the Founder’s pack will be $19.99, which isn’t too bad considering the content they’ll be including with the early access; including skins, boosters, and other cosmetic items. There are two other options though for the die-hard Paragon supporter: Challenger ($59.99) and Master ($99.99) With prices like those, I would certainly hope the full game is included. Looking at Sony’s announcement though, it seems like it will just include a vast amount of cosmetic items, along with a Founder’s pack to gift a friend.

For those of you who don’t want to spend any money to participate in early access, the open beta will be available to try out sometime in Summer of 2016. Much like many other free-to-play games though, there will be micro transactions available. Rest assured though, Epic Games has also added:

“[Paragon will] never be pay-to-win, meaning we will never sell gameplay-affecting items…We’re taking this approach because we believe that competitive games need to fair for all players”
