Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced last month and it was received enormously well across fans and players. Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick shared a few details of what we can expect from the new installment.
According to GameSpot Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two revealed during a MKM Partner event the game’s announcement trailer has surpassed the company’s expectations. The “anticipation is enormous” said Zelnick. The executive continued on during the discussion to express just how right the timing is for Red Dead Redemption 2.
“The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn’t work,” Zelnick said about the first game. “We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again–and that’s not meant to be cute.”
While we don’t have much more detail Zelnick also teased that Red Dead Redemption 2 will have an “incredible emotional depth” aspect and an online, we’re not sure what that is as of yet.
As someone who just finished re-playing Red Dead Redemption, there were few times in the original where you felt a deep connection to John Marston, don’t get me wrong, there were many times when I failed missions because shooting Agent Ross was not okay. Maybe it was because John was just that misunderstood or maybe it was a different time back then for single player story line continuity or logistics.
