It’s been a long time coming, but Psyonix has finally revealed that Rocket League is releasing on the Nintendo Switch.
For many, this was a natural progression for the massively popular car soccer game. For others, it will be a welcome surprise. The ability to play on the go has been a great advantage of the Switch, and the boost (if you’ll excuse the pun) from Rocket League is sure to captivate more players and add to the ever-growing list of games available for the Nintendo Switch.
Psyonix released a trailer commemorating the announcement:
While some finer details are unknown, it looks like the game will be on the Switch before the end of 2017, possibly around the winter holidays. What is clear is that Switch players will get access to exclusive car bodies, namely the Mario and Luigi NSRs and Samus’ Gunship in addition to Switch cosmetics in the future.
Rocket League has been around since July 2015 and has amassed over 25 million players with its hectic pace and simplicity. It has ran three seasons of the Rocket League Champion Series (RLCS) so far (with the fourth currently in progress at the time of writing), along with a whole host of community run tournaments.
