Konami could add so many characters into Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links.
So just in the context of the first anime series, I thought it would be fun to come up with a list of (realistic) characters who could be excellent additions to the game. I will also make up a fitting skill idea to go along with each entry as well.
Please note this list is in no particular order of significance. Now let’s hop right into the list!
1) Duke Devlin
Signature Monster: Orgoth the Relentless
Skill: Dice Master
Cards with dice-rolling effects have a higher chance of landing on high numbers.
Cue Duke’s sexy theme music.
Duke Devlin would be an interesting niche with his dice-themed gimmick. Rolling well with dice effects usually has a great payoff, so a deck made with dice cards would be interesting. I bet you have his theme music stuck in your head by now.
2) Rebecca Hawkins
Signature Monster: Shadow Ghoul
Once per Duel, before you draw, look at the top three cards of your deck and rearrange them in any order you choose.
How absurd. A child playing a children’s card game? Oh, wait. Rebecca is a child genius, after all. And because she is so smart, I think she will show you that brain power comes in handy in a battle of wits.
She also has the distinction of being the only character in the first series to “lose” a Duel by having her opponent forfeit to her. But it’s OK. She kissed that particular person later.
Signature Monster: (Evil) Dark Magician
Skill: Trimmed Card
Always begin each Duel with one Dark Magician card in your opening hand.
An underrated villain in his own right, Arkana would be a decent addition as the self-proclaimed “Master of Magicians.”
Signature Monster: Pumpking the King of Ghosts
Skill: Zombie Regeneration
Once during your opponent’s turn, your opponent cannot destroy your Zombie monsters in battle.
Some people love the undead stuff, and that’s pretty cool. So a Zombie-focused Duelist would be appropriate for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links.
5) Noah Kaiba
Signature Monster: Shinato, King of a Higher Plane
Skill: Virtual World Reset
Once per Duel, reset both players’ Life Points to 4000. Each player also draws until they have at least four cards in hand.
Noah rules a virtual world at one point in the plot. He also had an entire arc dedicated to him, so he deserves more credit as a villain.
6) Paradox Brothers
Signature Monster: Gate Guardian
Skill: Lost in a Labyrinth
Begin with one card in hand, but you start with a Labyrinth Wall monster in face-up Defense Position.
Para and Dox, two brothers who rhymed. Not many probably remember them – this should be a crime!
7) Solomon Muto
Signature Monster: Blue-Eyes White Dragon
Skill: Heart of the Cards
Once per Duel when your Life Points are 1000 or less, during your Draw Phase instead of conducting your normal draw, draw the card of your choice.
Grandpa Muto taught Yugi how to play Duel Monsters. I don’t see why he couldn’t be a character for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links.
8) Lumis and Umbra
Signature Monster: The Masked Beast
Skill: Restricted Tributes
Begin the Duel with Mask of Restrict in play.
Yeah, I know. It’s another dual-character concept. In all fairness, I like the idea of these two being light and shadow. And plus, the mask cards are kind of cool.
Signature Monster: Guardian Eatos
Skill: Sacred Graveyard
Your destroyed Guardian monster cards go to the bottom of your deck instead of the Graveyard.
Rafael is one of the few Duelists to defeat Yami Yugi in a Duel. For this feat alone, he deserves a slot in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links.
10) Vivian Wong
Signature Monster: Dragon Lady
Skill: Kung Fu Fury
Once per Duel, if your Life Points are 2000 or less than your opponent’s, one monster on your field gains 1000 ATK and inflicts piercing damage during this Battle Phase.
So this was my list of potential characters for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. I hope you liked it. What would your list look like?
See you all in Duel World.
