The game is filled with a rich story and presents itself in a way that is extremely pleasing to play. This storytelling carries over into the combat system. While staying faithful to the original book’s gameplay mechanic of rolling dice, and applying bonuses to determine damage, Tin Man Games added a little twist.
Every battle takes place on a grid with the player, enemies and environmental obstacles. Both sides choose their actions, which are then both executed at the same time. Unlike traditional RPG titles where you take turns striking back and forth, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain allows you to try and anticipate enemy moves to attack in the location they are moving to while avoiding their offensive moves.
