The Design of a Superior Product
Right out of the box, it is evident that HyperX put some time into the design of the Cloud Stinger. The construction and plastic are high quality and leave you with an extremely sturdy feeling product, even at the swivel points you will find it is reinforced with steel. You can put the Cloud Stinger on, knowing that it is leagues ahead of the creaks and groans of lesser equipment.
Like all HyperX headsets, the Cloud Stinger is equipped with their signature memory foam. Combined with a well-balanced amount of pressure, it is extremely comfortable while sitting firmly on my head without wobbling around. While wearing glasses, I am not subjected to the pinching and squeezing of a lot of other headsets. Overall, I could wear these all day without strain or stress.
The folks over at HyperX know what they are doing when it comes to making sure that their customers can use their products across all of their devices without issue. The headset has a 3.5mm headset plug, with a cable of perfect length for a laptop or phone. Also in the box is an extender, long enough to route cables for out of the way desktop usage. It’s easy to unplug the cable from the extender and move it right over to your phone, PS4, or Xbox One.
The audio quality on the Cloud Stinger is great, and the 50mm directional drivers create a rich and clean bass line. With a firm fit and memory foam around the ears, the passive noise canceling is phenomenal. When I sat down to test out the audio quality and range I was extremely impressed with the high-quality performance. This headset makes it easy to throw on and completely immerse yourself into audio bliss.
Functionality to Drool Over
Comfort, good audio, and multi-use are key when it comes to a good headset, but HyperX added some extra bells and whistles to the Cloud Stinger. With a mic that mutes as you move it up to the vertical position, you can be sure to avoid those accidental slips when you think you’re muted. Also, by placing the volume control on the right ear cuff, there won’t be any fishing around along the cable for the controls.
