Last month during Steam Dev Days, an announcement said Sony’s DualShock 4 controller would become a controller option for Steam. The DualShock 4 will be usable through Steam and will work exactly like the Steam Controller. This feature is now available thanks to the most recent Beta Client Update.
“Believe it or not, when you use the PS4 Controller through the Steam API, it’s exactly the same as a Steam Controller. You make the exact same API calls, you only get actions, not inputs, and the Steam API takes care of everything.”
More Control than Ever Before
This update couldn’t have come at a better time since Sony has recently announced two brand new licensed pro controllers: Razer Raiju and Nacon Revolution. These are, seemingly, Sony’s answer to customizable third-party controllers and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller.
Made with esports and competitive gaming in mind, these controllers will be even more customizable. So far, there is no date announced for the Razer Raiju and Nacon Revolution controllers. However, they will be available this holiday season.
